Estimates of web traffic and website rankings have always been dicey at best. For years, we’ve noticed that PMQ’s own site traffic has been underreported by some public sources. Nevertheless, trends in web traffic reporting can help us better understand how the pizza industry is moving forward in the digital space.
For this year’s Pizza Power Report, we reviewed web traffic estimates from multiple third-party sources to arrive at our own estimates and provide a snapshot of leading pizza chains’ digital presence and power. Not surprisingly, Domino’s is perched firmly at the top, but smaller chains like MOD Pizza and Blaze Pizza have been flexing their digital muscles, both surpassing 1 million visits a month on average.
Check out these websites and ask yourself: Which chains make it easiest to order? Which ones make customers have to dig around or jump through too many hoops to find what they’re looking for? Who’s making the best use of mouthwatering multimedia visuals to draw the eye? (Case in point: Jet’s Pizza.) Who’s putting their loyalty program front-and-center? (Blaze Pizza and MOD Pizza make sure you can’t miss it.) Which sites are slower to load? While fine-tuning your digital presence, you can learn what to do and, sometimes, what not to do, by studying the industry’s leaders.
