The National Restaurant Association predicted that plant-based meat would be one of the hottest trends of 2019. Pieology was a step ahead when it became the first fast-casual pizza brand to offer three toppings made out of high-quality plant proteins mimicking meat.

Launched this February, the three toppings include Spicy Italian Sausage Rounds, Beef Meatball, and Diced Chicken.  They are vegan, non-GMO verified, and costs an additional dollar per ounce. Each of them is packed with at least 14 grams of protein per serving.

“Over the last few decades, culinary innovation has greatly advanced in the area of plant-based proteins bringing their taste and texture to a remarkable meat-like level. Even our non-vegan guests have been shocked at how tasty our premium plant proteins are and how well they pair with pizza. We’re pleased to be able to serve creativity and provide our guests with a broader assortment of delicious, high-quality toppings than ever before,” says Chad Bailey, vice president of marketing at Pieology.

This is on-brand for Pieology that made headlines in the past for its vegan mozzarella cheese and cauliflower crust. PETA recently ranked it as one of the best vegan pizzerias to dine at. This may be due to the company methodically internalizing consumer feedback to remain a trendsetter in the United States. Founded in 2011, Pieology was created from the simple idea of turning America’s favorite food into an affordable and interactive experience by inspiring individual customer creativity.

“We know our customers come to us for the best and newest pizza innovations,” says Bailey.
