""(Charlotte, N.C., September 29, 2010) – In celebration of National Pizza Month in October, locally owned Wolfman Pizza reaffirms its commitment to the environment and its enviro-conscious customers by adopting the eco-friendly GreenBox™, an invention created by Ecovention, LLC of New York, N.Y.

Described by Fox News as “the pizza box of the 21st Century,” the GreenBox™ is made from 100% recycled material. Its top breaks down into four serving plates, eliminating the need for paper plates or the energy and water needed to clean regular plates. The bottom converts into a storage container to keep leftovers fresh, so environmentally unfriendly plastic bags and aluminum foil become things of the past. Unlike other pizza boxes, this “pizza party in a box” fits conveniently into any refrigerator, and is a cinch to recycle.
With over 3 billion pizzas sold every year in the U.S., and 70% of those requiring a box, the GreenBox™ has garnered national attention of pizza lovers and restauranteurs, all who want to save the earth one GreenBox™ at a time. Legacy and social media have been buzzing about the GreenBox™, and it even received a “tweeterrific” review on Twitter by celebrity actor Ashton Kutcher. The demonstration video for the GreenBox™ has received over a million views on YouTube (http://tinyurl.com/ckbawe) and Vimeo.

Said Wolfman Pizza district manager, Bailey Dunmire: “A lot of green products are eco-friendly, and that’s great, but they also cost five to ten times more. What drew me to the GreenBox™ was its multiple uses; you can eliminate plates and get a storage container, all from one box. It’s right in line with other pizza box costs, and a great way to be green and stay within reason as far as costs go.”

“We are delighted to see Wolfman Pizza become the first restaurant in the Carolinas to transition to the GreenBox™,” said Ecovention’s CEO, William Walsh. “Wolfman Pizza is known for its innovative pizza toppings, and will now be known for its use of innovative — and responsible — food packaging.”
Wolfman Pizza first opened its doors in 1991 as the Queen City’s first California-style pizza restaurant, and currently has four locations, each making their dough fresh from scratch daily. Wolfman Pizza’s pièce de résistance is its use of non-traditional, fresh toppings derived from cuisines other than the usual Italian-style tomato sauce. Each pizza is topped with Sorrento® whole-milk mozzarella, shredded daily.

Wolfman Pizza is a kid-friendly establishment, with children 10 and under dining free on Tuesdays from 5 to 8 p.m. Daily lunch specials are only $6.49, and include a slice of pizza, salad and a drink. Full-service dine-in, carry-out, take-and-bake, delivery and catering are available.

Wolfman Pizza has four locations across Charlotte, N.C.: 106â€B S. Sharon Amity Rd.; 8418â€A Park Rd.; 10620 Providence Rd. West; and 1039â€B Providence Rd.
