“A Bloomington pizzeria recognized for its specialty pies has reached a new milestone,” according to The Pantagraph.

Chicago Style Pizzeria, located in Colonial Plaza, 1500 E. Empire St., celebrates its 20th anniversary this month.

Abe Taha and his wife, Ruth, purchased Chicago Dough Co. in May 1992 because they both had an entrepreneurial spirit, said Taha. At the time, Taha was a visiting professor in economics at Illinois State Universityand his wife was an English professor at Eureka College.

“We are independent and I always wanted to own a business,” Taha said. “We introduced a lot of innovations in this town as far as pizza.”

In 1993, the couple moved the restaurant from its original location on Normal’s Vernon Avenue to its current location and changed its name to Chicago Style Pizzeria. For the last 20 years, Taha has been creating specialty pizzas.”
