(NORWALK, CT) February 20, 2007 – With little time left to go Trans Fat free in New York City, a panel of industry experts will speak to restaurateurs and chefs about how to transition their establishments to comply with the city’s new regulations during the International Restaurant & Foodservice Show of New York on Monday, March 5, 2007 at Noon at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in room 1C03.
 
The special session will feature an opening address by Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, Commissioner of NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene followed by an expert panel including David Berkowitz, Executive Director of New York City Department of Education School Foodservice; Chris Giarraputo, Corporate Executive Chef for B.R. Guest Restaurants; Sheila Cohn Weiss, Director of Nutrition Policy for the National Restaurant Association; David Dzisiak, Global Oil Leader, Dow AgroSciences; and John Jansen, Vice President of Product and Sales Support, Bunge Oils.  The discussion will be moderated by E. Charles “Chuck” Hunt, Executive Vice President of New York City Office for the New York State Restaurant Association (NYSRA).
 
“More than 24,000 foodservice establishments in NYC will need to learn to comply with the new regulations,” said Chuck Hunt representing NYSRA.  “We expect that this panel will provide restaurateurs with the tools they need to become compliant.”
