According to a news report from bizjournals.com, “NPC International Inc, the largest franchisee of Pizza Hut restaurants, reported second-quarter earnings of $1.4 million, compared with a $16.1 million loss a year earlier.”

“Overland Park, Kan.-based NPC operates 871 restaurants and delivery units in 24 states,” said the story. “The company’s revenue was $172 million, a 15.7 percent increase from $148.7 million for the same period last year. The company credited the difference mostly to $23.4 million of transaction expenses incurred in the second quarter of 2006, when Merrill Lynch Global Private Equity acquired NPC.”
