According to a news report from dailytimes.com, “McDonald’s is raising wages in China by up to 56 percent, a company spokesman said Tuesday, following allegations earlier this year that the US fast food giant was underpaying local part-time workers.”

“George Gu, Shanghai-based spokesman of McDonald’s China, confirmed reports Tuesday that McDonald’s will raise salaries for 95 percent of its more than 50,000 staff in China by 12 to 56 percent as of September 1,” said the story. “The average salary increase will be around 30 percent,” he told AFP. Fast food companies including McDonald’s, Kentucky Fried Chicken and Pizza Hut were under investigation by Chinese labour authorities earlier this year after reports that they were underpaying local part-time workers.”
