Former Domino’s Pizza President, 30 Year Industry Veteran and Former Franchisee

TOLEDO, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Marco’s Pizza, home of the Ah! Thentic Italian Pizza and founded 27-years ago in Toledo, OH, announced that P. David “Dave” Black, who rose through the ranks from store manager to president of Domino’s Pizza, will be Marco’s executive vice president in charge of operations, training and other store level activities.

Jack Butorac, Jr., president of Marco’s Franchising, LLC, the franchising arm for Marco’s, announced the appointment.

Black, a resident of Ann Arbor, MI, began his career as manager of a Domino’s Pizza Store in Gainesville, FL in 1972 while attending the University of Florida. He then became a Domino’s franchisee in Tampa and then in North Carolina. He initially joined Domino’s Pizza Corporate Office in Ann Arbor in 1976 and within two years he was promoted to Regional Vice President for the southeast region. He then was promoted to vice president of operations for Domino’s Pizza in 1981 when the company grew from 1,200 units to over 5,000 worldwide.

In 1989, he was appointed president and chief operating officer of Domino’s by founder Thomas S. Monaghan until 1991 just prior to Monaghan selling the company.

He then served as a Domino’s Franchisee in North Carolina until recently. He also is the owner of Champion Gymnastics Club also in Ann Arbor.

Founded by Italian native Pasquale “Pat” Giammarco, who used many of his family recipes in the menu, Marco’s has been put on a growth curve by Butorac and his team of franchise development specialists, with a goal of 500 units by 2010. There are currently 150 restaurants in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Nevada and Arizona.

Marco’s Pizza offers carryout, delivery and some sit-down service with the Marco’s menu of custom made Ah! Thentic Italian pizzas, fresh baked subs, salads, chicken wings and soft drinks.
