Hot Dog Champ Joey Chestnut Decimates Amateur Competitive Eater in Pizza Hut® P’Zone Challenge

Chestnut Beats Amateur Contest Winner from Spokane, WA; Former Hot Dog Champ Takeru Kobayashi Acts as Judge

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Pizza Hut®, America’s Favorite Pizza, hosted a P’Zone eating competition today between Joey Chestnut, world hot dog eating champion, and amateur P’Zone Challenge contest winner Marivic Stewart of Spokane, WA. Takeru Kobayashi, the #1-ranked six-time hot dog champ, served as the head judge.

The contest results confirmed, once again, Joey Chestnut’s thorough dominance in all disciplines. Chestnut, the #2-ranked eater in the world, consumed 4.82 pounds of P’Zones, six times the amount eaten by Marivic Stewart, the upstart rookie, who could only stomach ¾ of a P’Zone, or .8 pounds. Marivic won the right to compete against Joey, as well as an all-expense paid vacation to New York, after submitting photos and an enthusiastic essay to Pizza Hut’s “Dare You to Still Be Hungry” contest in mid-June.

Footage of the contest is available on request.

The P’Zone pizza weighs one pound and features abundant pizza ingredients sealed inside a 12” crust. Available now for $5.99 at participating Pizza Hut® restaurants, it is available in three recipes: Meaty, Pepperoni, and Classic.
