(Press release), Long Island, NY, June 27, 2013 — Origin Display Group Inc., a leading supplier of indoor, outdoor, and digital menu boards, has begun the roll-out of digital menu boards for all nine of Home Run Inn’s Chicago area pizzerias. Thus far, Origin Elite, powered by SmarterSign, has been implemented at their Melrose Park and Beverly locations with the other restaurants to follow shortly.

Home Run Inn began in 1923. Its namesake came from a game-winning homerun from a nearby baseball game. The baseball shattered the front window of Mary and Vincent Grittani’s newly purchased tavern. In the late 1940’s, Mary and her son-in-law Nick Perrino began making homemade pizzas in the Home Run Inn kitchen. Slicing the pizzas into small square-shaped pieces, they served it fresh, hot, and free to bar patrons.
Today, the Perrino family still actively guides Home Run Inn Pizza with Nick’s son, Joe Perrino as the CEO. With nine family-owned Chicagoland pizzerias and a full line of premium and additive/preservative-free frozen pizzas that are sold in more than 25 states, Home Run Inn is proud of their ability to offer handmade, all-natural pizzas to people all over America.

This was not Home Run Inn’s first experience with digital signage. They came in contact with Origin Displays when searching for an alternative due to the content management frustrations they had been dealing with. With all of their locations in mind, they wanted a system where they could manage their multiple units dynamically from any computer with Internet access. In addition, Home Run Inn Pizza was looking for an intuitive system where it would be easy to update and promote the various specials they run, highlight their community involvement, as well as advertise their catering capabilities and social media presence.

Origin Displays’ Partner, Mike Lella, discusses the Home Run Inn Pizza implementation process. “Working with Home Run Inn Pizza was great. They have an experienced designer within their infrastructure which made the training process seamless. This should prove advantageous as they immerse themselves in to the system. Where many others use 50% of the systems capabilities, I am confident that Home Run Inn Pizza will maximize the functionality of the software, resulting in them hitting their objectives ‘out of the park’.”
