Home Run Inn has created a new pizza that could make Chicago Cubs fans forget all about hot dogs at the ballpark.
The family-owned chain has introduced the limited-time Beer Pizza, inspired by some of the Windy City’s favorite brews, at its restaurants and select concession stands at Wrigley Field.
At Wrigley Field, the Beer Pizza will be offered as an 8” sausage pie with wheat-ale flavoring in the sauce. At the chain’s restaurants, customers can order the beer-flavored pizza with their preferred toppings. The specialty pie will be available throughout the remainder of Major League baseball season.

“A great beer and a great pizza are so often enjoyed together, we thought it would be fun to create that favorite taste all in one bite,” said Gina Bolger, senior vice president and a fourth-generation family member of Home Run Inn. “The Home Run Inn family of 75 years is excited to celebrate all things Chicago.”
Home Run Inn, founded by Mary and Vincent Grittani, started out in 1923 as a tavern on Chicago’s South Side before being renamed Home Run Inn in 1947. How did that name come about? According to the company’s website, it’s all thanks to a kid who belted a baseball from a neighborhood park straight into the tavern’s window, “a home run for some young slugger on the sandlot.”
The company currently has nine pizzerias throughout the Chicagoland area, while its frozen pizzas are available nationwide. The company also serves the Official Pizza of the Cubs and Wrigley Field.
