Dewey’s Pizza announced the return of its “most coveted menu item,” a seasonal pizza with a heavyweight reputation: the Tito Santana. The pizza, named after the legendary wrestler, will be available at all 25 Dewey’s locations starting on Tuesday, April 30.

Guests can expect layered portions from the original pizza recipe, including a taco sauce base, a generous amount of seasoned ground beef, a creamy blend of chihuahua and cheddar cheeses, red onion and corn chips. The pizza is baked and topped with shredded lettuce and fresh tomatoes and drizzled with house-made chipotle ranch dressing.

According to a press release from Dewey’s Pizza, which is based in Cincinnati, Ohio, “Every element of the Tito Santana pizza reflects their commitment to quality from the fresh, proprietary dough to the cheeses shredded daily in-house, making each bite a knock-out of flavor.”

Dewey’s release of the Tito Santana is in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. The 25-unit chain said the pizza is meant to be an alternative to traditional Taco Tuesdays, which Dewey’s has lovingly rebranded “Tito Tuesdays” online.

“Our fans are relentless on social media with endless passion for this pizza,” noted Stephanie McCall, director of marketing at Dewey’s Pizza. “A fan recently shared, ‘Please bring back Tito, we’ve been good all winter!’”

The Tito Santana pizza is named after the longtime legendary wrestler. In 2018, Tito Santana paid a visit to Dewey’s Pizza in Columbus to try his namesake pizza out for size. According to Dewey’s staff, Santana proclaimed “¡Arriba!” after his first bite.

The Tito Santana pizza will be in the ring for six weeks.  Vegetarians can swap the ground beef for Dewey’s signature black bean corn salsa to sample a similar flavor profile. Gluten-free crust and dairy-free cheese are also available at all Dewey’s locations. Guests can purchase the Tito Santana pizza and Dewey’s seasonal Greek salad, for dine-in, carryout or online at deweyspizza.com
