According to a news report from MercuryNews.com, “From the “dog bones” on the menu to the cute puppy photos and figurines covering the brick walls, there’s no escaping the canine theme at Happy Dog Pizza in downtown Gilroy. There’s even a poster in the upstairs women’s room outlining the reasons why dogs make better companions than men.”

“The 3-year-old pizzeria, named for owner Steve Gearing’s pizza-loving pup, reopened this spring after a two-month break for renovations. There’s copper paint on the pressed tin ceiling, new flooring underfoot and a menu studded with debut dishes – from a crab and butter lettuce salad with mandarin oranges ($13.99) to a salciccia pizza ($12.99 small) with broccoli rabe, sausage, caramelized onions and poblano chiles,” said the story.
