Food&HotelVietnam2007 sees good wine harvest

Singapore, 24 August 2007 – Food&HotelVietnam2007 (FHV2007), the fourth International Food & Drinks, Hotel, Restaurant, Bakery & Foodservice Equipment, Supplies & Services Exhibition and Conference, has recorded an impressive growth of nearly 40 percent in the number of wine exhibitors enlisting in its show.

Wine consumption in Vietnam is on the rise, spurred by the country’s liberalisation of foreign trade and economy, growth in travel and tourism, and increasing awareness and sophistication for quality wines. Research conducted by Accenture for the World Travel & Tourism Council predicts that the travel and tourism industry will form about 11 percent of Vietnam’s economy in 2007[1]. Vietnam has become a choice destination for many foreign companies and is observed as full of potential for local wine companies to further expand their businesses, and international wine companies to penetrate into the local wine market.

FHV2007 sees Thailand exhibiting for the first time through the Siam Winery Trading Plus Co. Ltd. The exhibition will feature international renowned brands like the Langguth/Blue Nun from Germany, Muhak Co, Ltd from Korea, Tan Uc Viet Co, Ltd from Vietnam, as well as strong representation from the French Pavilion Sopexa. Local visitors can leverage on the exhibition to meet new and existing wine suppliers to establish new distribution channels, forge strategic partnerships with industry peers, as well as capitalise on promising trade opportunities with the overseas visitors.

“Vietnam is witnessing a higher domestic demand, a result of a burgeoning expatiate community as well as growing understanding and appreciation of the wine culture by the local Vietnamese. We hope, with a larger wine display at the show this year, FHV2007 will be able to help hoteliers, restaurateurs and retailers meet the market’s growing need for higher quality and greater range of wines and spirits,” said Ms. Ting Siew Mui, Singapore Exhibition Services’s Project Director (Lifestyle Events) for FHV.

FHV2007 is jointly organised by Singapore Exhibition Services Pte Ltd (SES) and VCCI Exhibition Service (Vietchamexpo), and is endorsed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
