According to a news report from baltimoresun.com, “A fire gutted a pizzeria that has been on the public square in downtown Hagerstown for 40 years, fire officials said.”

“The fire occurred about 5:40 a.m. Sunday at Rocky’s University New York Pizza,” said the story. “Owner Vinnie DiCola, who lives in an apartment above the pizzeria, said he and his roommate got out of the building safely and a firefighter rescued his dog. DiCola said the fire damaged the the pizzeria’s equipment, wiring, plumbing, flooring, ceiling and air-conditioning system. He estimated damage at about $150,000.”
