NYTimes.com reports, “The popular Brooklyn restaurant Di Fara Pizza reopened around noon on Wednesday, a week after the city health department closed it for 67 sanitary violations, including mice and fly infestation. ‘Di Fara’s passed its reopening inspection,’ said a department spokeswoman, Susan Craig. ”
“It appeared that the health department was taking the high ground in the tempest over the closing, after the restaurant posted sarcastic remarks about the agency on its Facebook page. ‘Our priority is protecting the health of the city’s diners and unfortunately that sometimes means the temporary closure of a popular establishment is necessary,’ Ms Craig said. ‘We are glad that Di Fara has taken steps to resolve its sanitary issues and is once again open for business.’ On Wednesday, the Web site Gothamist reported a message posted on the pizzeria’s Facebook page: “Di Fara Pizza is now accepting apron donations so that Dom can change the apron after he makes each pie so it does not get soiled. ’ The Di Fara post added that “we will now use our intermission as an opportunity for the mice to have a little play time with the flies.’”
