According to the San Fransisco Chronicle, “California Pizza Kitchen Inc. rose 9.6 percent after the New York Post said American Securities Capital Partners is in advanced talks to acquire it.”

“The price couldn’t be learned and discussions may still fall apart, the Post said Wednesday, citing two unidentified sources close to the situation. California Pizza said in April that it was reviewing options including a possible sale, merger or changes to its capital structure. The Los Angeles-based restaurant chain has 261 company-owned stores and franchises. California Pizza declined to comment. Anne Board, a spokeswoman for New York-based private-equity firm American Securities, didn’t return a call seeking comment.”
