According to a news report from www.seacoastonline.com, “The outpouring of support from the community for a Rye family continues next week with a benefit to be held at the Flatbread Company.”

“On Tuesday evening, a portion of each pizza sold (including takeout) will be donated to the Haley family fund,” said the story. “Flatbread Company offers benefit nights every Tuesday to help local organizations. Past beneficiaries include Boy Scout troops and local high school clubs. The Haley family’s story has touched the Seacoast community. Money has poured into the fund set up at TD Banknorth to help them defray expenses. An army of carpenters and other contractors converged on their Rye home this summer, completing work that stopped when Jerry Haley became chronically ill. Three years ago, on Sept. 22, 2004, Haley collapsed in his garage and the family learned he had a brain tumor. Now, he suffers from scar tissue from the radiation, called “radiation necrosis.” He was put on steroids in the hope of shrinking the necrosis and continued on monthly chemotherapy. It didn’t help and the scar tissue is inoperable.”

Flatbread Company of 138 Congress St., Portsmouth, will donate $3.50 from every pizza sold between 4 and 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29 (including takeout orders) to the Haley family of Rye. Call Flatbread at 436-7888.
