Casey’s, the nation’s third largest convenience retailer, has ventured into pan-pizza territory as it continues to elevate its culinary game.

Casey’s describes its first-ever pan pizza as “featuring a fluffy, golden-brown square crust and edge-to-edge toppings.” It will launch on Wednesday, October 28, as a permanent menu item.

Casey’s touts itself as the fifth-largest pizza chain, although PMQ doesn’t officially recognize it as a pizza restaurant brand. But it has certainly become a major player in the pizza industry with its ever-growing menu for customers on the go.

According to a survey commissioned by Casey, one in four Americans said that getting pan pizza requires going out of their way or that it’s unavailable nearby. That gap widens in Casey’s country: Nearly 80% of the small towns it serves do not have a nearby national pan pizza offering.

“Casey’s has become a destination for pizza in the communities we serve, and our all-new pan pizza gives our guests another reason to choose us,” said Tom Brennan, chief merchandising officer at Casey’s. “We spent nearly two years developing a pan pizza with an amazingly thick, fluffy crust and crispy edges, and it absolutely delivers what guests love about Casey’s—craveable abundance at a great value.”

Casey’s says the pan pizza features “a hearty, thick and fluffy golden-brown square crust made with olive oil, honey, sea salt and finely milled 00 flour. The specially formulated dough gives the crust structure to hold up Casey’s generous toppings while maintaining a soft and fluffy inside and crispy bottom. Topped edge to edge with real mozzarella cheese, the cheese caramelizes around the edges to create an irresistibly crispy cheese crown.”

Guests can order any Casey’s pizza build on pan crust, from breakfast and single-topping to specialty favorites, including the Ultimate Meat and Sweet Heat Sausage & Pepperoni pies.

While Casey’s is making pan pizza easier to find, the survey shows the style already has plenty of fans. Nearly half of pan pizza eaters call it their favorite, and more than 70% say pan pizza brings back fond memories of childhood.

But for a new generation, pan pizza is still a discovery. One in seven Gen Z respondents don’t know or aren’t sure what pan pizza is.

With pan pizza joining the permanent menu across Casey’s nearly 3,000 stores in 19 states, the company is bringing a style consumers already love closer to home while introducing it to a new generation.

To celebrate the launch, Casey’s Rewards members who buy the new pan pizza on Wednesday, October 28, will receive a free large, one-topping pizza added to their Rewards account. The “Crust Credit” can be redeemed between October 29 and November 18. Casey’s Rewards members will also earn double points on all whole pie pizza purchases.
