Detroit-based Buddy’s Pizza is the latest chain to partner with DoorDash, joining larger national pizza chains like Pizza Hut, Papa John’s and Little Caesars on the third-party delivery bandwagon.

Buddy’s, known as the birthplace of Detroit-style pizza, announced that it has entered into an exclusive partnership with DoorDash. To celebrate, the company will kick off a National Pizza Day weekend with deals and giveaways. On Friday, Feb. 7, 250 pizza fans near Buddy’s 16 locations can get a free Original 4-Square pizza with two toppings by using the promo code PIZZABUDDYS at checkout when placing at least a $5 order through DoorDash. Additionally, Buddy’s will offer free delivery on all orders over $12 on Feb. 8-9.

In a press release, Buddy’s said it “has already seen off-premise sales grow to 41 percent of their business” through DoorDash.

Fans of Detroit-style pizza can get free delivery from Buddy’s Pizza with a minimum $12 order on Feb. 8-9.

“While the majority of Buddy’s business is dine-in, off-premise—including delivery—continues to be a key growth area. As we look to expand, we are eager to utilize this partnership with DoorDash as a way to introduce new markets to the Original Detroit-Style Pizza,” said Buddy’s Pizza CEO Burton Heiss. “DoorDash allows our current customers to have their favorite pizza delivered while also introducing Buddy’s to a brand-new consumer base.”

As part of the new partnership, Buddy’s said it will use DoorDash’s suite of merchant services, including DashPass, DoorDash’s subscription program, and Drive, DoorDash’s white-label fulfillment platform. DoorDash Drive “enables merchants to build and run delivery operations through their own channels on mobile and web to maintain a close relationship with their customers, while tapping into DoorDash’s operational expertise and on-demand fleet of Dashers,” the press release said.

“As a merchant-first company, we are constantly looking for ways to offer restaurants more opportunities to expand their reach and revenue while running their businesses more efficiently,” said Brooke Segaran, DoorDash’s head of regional merchant partnerships. “We’re proud to partner with Buddy’s, a pioneer in pizza and an institution in the Michigan dining scene, to help them build out their delivery channels and reach more customers in more ways across the state.”
