“Pizza Wars 2012 is set for 4 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Massillon Recreation Center, 505 Erie St. N,” according to Cantonrep.com.

“This year, eight pizza vendors – Kozmo’s Grille, Jay’s Pizza, Romeo’s Pizza, Gionino’s Pizzeria, Kraus’ Pizza, Danny Boys Italian Eatery, Mama Roses’ and Pizza Hut – will face off for the judge’s choice and people’s choice awards. In addition to pizza, Chocolates by Erin, of Massillon, will display decadent chocolates for dessert.

The Lincoln Street Blues Band and ReUNITED, both of Massillon, will provide live entertainment. Admission is $1 per person and food tickets are $3 for one slice of pizza. Proceeds will help support the Massillon Parks and Recreation Center’s summer playground program and the wading pool at Oak Knoll Medal of Honor Park.”
