“Transforming a tiny space that used to house Timeless Treasures, a place to buy beads and stones, is Mancinni’s Coal Oven Pizza, Montclair’s newest entrant already distinguishing itself in what’s becoming a crowded field of pizza offering,” according to Baristanet. “Channeling retro with a copper ceiling, black and white tile floor, wood bench seating and a vintage cash register, Mancinni’s looks as if it could have been in the pocket-sized space forever. Expect Australian-born chef/host Lizzie Singh-Brar to bring your drinks (Boylans and Fizzy Lizzy sodas) with a “Cheers, mate.” Behind the counter, manning the coal and wood burning oven, is pizzaiolo Antonio “Tony,” all the way from Caldwell. About the menu — a simple one-pager succinctly lists one-word names for dishes with a brief description. Under salads there’s the Kale, featuring raw kale, roasted beets and pumpkin seeds ($8.50), the Herb ($9), which we tried, pairs arugula with parsley, mint, thyme, oregano, a generous dollop of creamy chevre and house dressing, all atop a savory pizza-like disc of bread studded with raisins.”
