""Baltimore, May 26, 2011 — Two Boots today announced that the famed New York restaurant will open its newest location at The Fitzgerald, a mixed-use apartment community in Baltimore’s Mount Vernon neighborhood, on Tuesday, May 31st, and will celebrate with a grand opening party on Wednesday, June 1st, offering free food and live music from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Two Boots, renowned for blending Italian and Cajun flavors in its pizza, currently has nine other locations, including seven in New York, one in Los Angeles, and one in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Created in the East Village in 1987 by two independent filmmakers, Two Boots features folk art decor and family-friendly service to create unique environments that cross all demographic and culinary boundaries.

“I came to Baltimore in the early 80’s to work on a screenplay, fell in love with the town, and have maintained my crush on it ever since,” said Phil Hartman, owner, Two Boots.  “We look forward to contributing to the great culinary – and artistic – traditions in Baltimore, and are especially thrilled to be in the midst of such a vibrant and creative community at The Fitzgerald.”

Two Boots offers a variety of thin crust slices named for off-beat cultural icons, including “The Newman” (from Seinfeld), “The Dude,” (from “The Big Lebowski”) and “The Night Tripper” (props to New Orleans music legend Dr. John) – as well as classic cheese, pepperoni, and veggie.

The pizza joint has also developed a slice exclusive to Baltimore, coined the “Old Bay Beast,” which includes crab, crawfish, Andouille sausage, jalapenos, and mozzarella – and which was named “Best Slice in Baltimore” by Baltimore CityPaper in 2010.

The Cajun-Italian menu also offers New Orleans po’boy sandwiches, salads, calzones and stromboli.  Customers are invited to enjoy sidewalk outdoor dining, free delivery, and live music on Wednesday and Saturday nights.

As at all the locations, Two Boots Baltimore has engaged local artists — from MICA and beyond, to provide an interior as luscious as the pizzas. Highlights include the screen paintings of local artist Jenny Campbell and an installation from Baltimore’s American Visionary Arts Museum, complementing the unique design of The Fitzgerald.

Two Boots occupies a ground level retail space on W. Mount Royal Avenue, alongside anchor tenant Barnes & Noble.  Only another 2,335 square feet of available retail remains at The Fitzgerald (less than 10 percent) and the apartment community is nearly 100 percent leased.

The Fitzgerald – a LEED Silver community developed by Bozzuto Development, built by Bozzuto Construction, and now managed by Bozzuto Management – is comprised of 275 luxury apartments, 24,000 square feet of street-level retail and a 1,245 space public parking garage.  The Brownfields development sits on 4.6 acres of land owned by the University of Baltimore and is part of a massive redevelopment effort by the University and the surrounding community.

Two Boots Baltimore’s hours are Monday through Thursday: 11:30 a.m. – 11:00 p.m.; Friday and Saturday: 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 a.m.; Sunday: 12:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
