According to RecordOnline.com, “students at Gardnertown Fundamental Magnet School in Newburgh recently celebrated Family Math Fun and Pizza Night sponsored by GAPS, the school’s parent group.”

“Gardnertown Assistant Principal Timothy Bohlke said the evening allowed students to work with their parents as well as fellow classmates and teachers to learn how math related to their everyday life, including such simple tasks as eating pizza. By using the slices in the pizza pie, the younger students can learn subtraction and addition while older students can focus on percentages. In addition, learning stations were created for students with colorful candy and other goodies to help them understand probability, fractions, place value, and basic addition.”
