According to jsonline.com, “An upscale pizzeria and lounge may soon be opening at the long-vacant building that once housed a downtown Heinemann’s Restaurant.

“Dick’s Pizza and Lounge plans to open at 730 N. Milwaukee St. after it obtains a tavern license and remodeling work is finished on the building. The construction work is to be done by July, according to a tavern license application submitted recently to the City Clerk’s office. The application was submitted by Dick’s Pizza LLC, which is owned by Adam Kirchner and TWG Management LLC. The registered agent for Dick’s Pizza is Thomas Wackman, part owner of Charro restaurant, 729 N. Milwaukee St., and other downtown nightspots. The Milwaukee St. Heinemann’s closed in the early 1990s, and the building has been empty since–even as other former storefronts on the block were converted into restaurants and clubs. Dick’s Pizza will be between two of those businesses–Cubanitas restaurant and Metro Bar and Cafe, which is part of Hotel Metro. Dick’s Pizza will include a dining area and bar on the first floor, and a bar area and stage for live music on the second floor, according to plans submitted with the tavern license application. It also will have a sidewalk cafe,” the story said.
