A California pizza chain plans to open nearly 30 new locations in Greater Baltimore by 2016.

Chestertown-based Eat Inc. has bought the rights to develop 50 RedBrick Pizza Worldwide Inc. restaurants in Maryland and Delaware.

Eat Inc. plans to own and operate 20 of the locations and franchise the remaining 30, said Howard Johnson, company vice president of operations. The average investment from a RedBrick franchisee is between $200,000 to $300,000, he said.

Eat Inc. is scouring locations in Baltimore City and Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties to open 30 RedBrick locations. The remaining 20 sites are slated for the Eastern Shore and Delaware.
