According to a news report from nbc17.com, “A new school in Pittsboro is offering an alternative to the public school system. It’s called the Pizza Kitchen School and it just opened this past Summer by owner Donna Bianco. Bianco used to be a teacher with the Chatham County School District but said she was not happy about the way kids were learning in the public school system. Her business first opened in May as a Pizzeria. Then in August she opened the school.”

“Classes are taught where patrons would normally sit and eat. So during the day pizza orders are only for pick up. At night when kids are at home, the school becomes a full restaurant. Bianco said students are taught using a core knowledge series similar to what is offered in private and charter schools, so the lesson plans are specifically designed for every grade level,” said the story.
