According to a news report from www.app.com, "A debate is brewing in the borough over what extent liquor establishments must keep their distance from each other."

"For 30 years, the limit has been 1,500 feet. Now a local pizzeria wants to open a restaurant that serves alcohol on Grand Central Avenue that by law would not be far enough apart from the Crab's Claw Inn, an eatery with a bar two blocks away," said the story. "A proposal to change the ordinance from 1,500 to 450 feet to accommodate Lenny's Pizzeria will be the topic of discussion and possibly a vote at a Borough Council public hearing tonight. Ample opposition is expected, including many residents who live near the two restaurants. "A lot of us relied on this ordinance when we bought our houses," said Mike Vastola, whose home on Bond Avenue would be around the corner from the new pizzeria. Vastola said he and at least 30 others who have united under the tag Lavallette Opposed to Liquor Application, or LOLA, are worried about increased late-night traffic, parking and noise encroaching on their neighborhood at the north end."
