According to a news report from www.charlotte.com, “Nearly a decade ago, the Avramovic brothers — Branko and Djordje (pronounced “Georgie”) — were busboys and barbacks at Cosmos Cafe. On Wednesday, the two realized a lifelong dream by opening their own restaurant: Intermezzo Pizzeria and Cafe at Central and Louise avenues.”
“The tiny Plaza-Midwood spot is across from the Salvation Army and features a mix of American and Yugoslavian food, including many family recipes. For example, their burger is made of beef and lamb and called pleskavica,” said the story. “Interior designer Boris Tomic, who worked on Cosmos and the Forum, created a warm, industrial look with exposed brick and beams. The place only seats 50 people, but the Avramovic brothers have said they could expand. At a friends and family party on Sunday, I liked what I saw.”
According to the story, “The brothers are humble and gracious, the food — pizza, along with lamb, chicken and beef kebabs — was yummy-yummy to my tummy, and the great draft beer selection includes Duck-Rabbit.”
