According to Business Week, “Yum Brands Inc., which owns Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut, spent $220,000 in the fourth quarter to lobby on menu labeling and other matters, according to a recent disclosure report.”
“That’s up 16 percent from the $190,000 that the fast-food chain spent in the same period in 2008, but less than the $280,000 it spent in the third quarter of 2009. The fast food chain also lobbied the federal government on legislation related to food safety, union organizing and labor issues, tax law, health care reform and derivative trading. In the October-through-December period, the restaurant chain, based in Louisville, Ky., lobbied both houses of Congress, according to a disclosure report filed Jan. 12 with the House clerk’s office.”
