Family-run and minority-owned company Thompson Hospitality recently announced a fifth location for Wiseguy Pizza, which will be located at a mall in Wheaton, Maryland.
The fast-growing and award-winning New York-style pizzeria is known for its old-world, authentic pies characterized by a distinct chewy, golden crust perfected in classic stone-deck ovens. Wiseguy Pizza emphasizes high-quality ingredients: freshly-packed tomato sauce from California, all-natural cheese from Wisconsin, virgin olive oil and Parmigiano-Reggiano from Italy, to name a few. Sauces and dressings are made in-house, and the pizzeria uses filtered water to better control the quality of its dough.
Alongside the classics, the DMV-area pizzeria has a rotating menu of specials. The list includes vegan and vegetarian options, as well as fun flavors such as Korean Chicken and Paneer Tikka. The brand offers cauliflower gluten-free 10” pies in several variations, including Mushroom Truffle, Il Capo, Buffalo and Backyard Pie. Wiseguy sells pizza either by the slice or whole 18” inch pies—dubbed “Big Apple Size”—which are 65% bigger than the 14” pizzas offered by rivals.

“We are so excited to join the Wheaton Mall family and provide our award-winning pizza slices and pies to those looking for the perfect bite to eat while shopping,” said Alex Berentzen, COO of Thompson Hospitality. “The Wiseguy Pizza brand is unwavering in its commitment to excellence, and we eagerly anticipate introducing it to the Silver Spring community.”
As a part of its grand opening celebrations, Wiseguy Pizza will be giving away 500 free slices on October 3 from 3–6 p.m. Guests can pick up a free slice of pizza—limit one per customer—while supplies last. To add to the excitement, fans and mall-goers can also expect an afternoon filled with fun activities and games where they can win more pizza and other cool prizes.
Wiseguy Pizza is the only specialty pizza store at the Wheaton Mall and can be found at the second-level food court. They are set to open on September 20. The location will be open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
