You’d think Guy Fieri would be hard to miss if he slipped into your restaurant for a slice or two. That shock of blonde hair and all those tattoos splattered on both arms ought to stand out in any crowd. But when the Food Network star showed up at Venezia Italian Pizza & Ristorante in North Palm Beach, Florida, recently, co-owner/chef Albert Vogli initially paid him little heed.

A server had to tell Vogli that the goatee-sporting customer, who owns a mansion in nearby Lake Worth Beach, was one of the restaurant industry’s best-known personalities—the Mayor of Flavortown, in fact.

According to the Palm Beach Post, Fieri stopped in at Venezia with his son, Hunter, after shopping at a nearby business. Vogli said Fieri ordered a slice of pepperoni and sausage, while Hunter went for just a pepperoni slice.

Vogli had been making dough in the back of the restaurant when he took a break and stepped out into the dining room. He saw a customer eyeing him. “I thought he was looking for Parmigiano,” Vogli told the Palm Beach Post. “That was when one of the waitresses said, ‘That’s Guy Fieri.’”

Vogli made sure to meet Fieri and “apologized for not recognizing him,” although he thought the culinary superstar looked familiar. Fieri then posed for a photo with Vogli and his wife/business partner, Elida. According to the Voglis, both Fieri and his son were very nice.

Fieri also posed for a photo with two Venezia regulars and reminded them, “Make sure you give the waitress a good tip.”

The Voglis founded Venezia Italian Pizza & Ristorante in 1987. The menu features pizzas, calzones, strombolis, sub sandwiches, wraps, soups and salads.
