Giordano’s Famous Stuffed Pizza – Chicago’s number-one stuffed deep-dish pizza maker since 1974 – is bringing the Windy City what it wants: more of its signature stuffed pizza. Giordano’s announced today the opening of its 41st Chicagoland brick and mortar location at 1340 S. Michigan Ave. in the South Loop, as well as plans for expansion into Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood and the city’s northern suburbs.

The new site marks the first new brick and mortar Giordano’s location to open since the restaurant in Beverly opened in March, 2011. Earlier, in 2013, Giordano’s rolled out its Food Truck, the first fully mobile Giordano’s.

“With the new South Loop restaurant set to open and five more locations under development, it’s safe to say that Giordano’s growth has been reignited,” said the restaurant’s CEO Yorgo Koutsogiorgas. “Since Victory Park Capital Advisors acquired the company in late 2011, we have undertaken several initiatives to strengthen the bond between our many loyal customers and their beloved Giordano’s. It’s obvious that the introduction of our new menu, which in addition to the famous stuffed deep dish pizza, now features hand-crafted Italian inspired foods, which include salads, pastas and sandwiches has been resonating strongly with our guests who keep coming back. Business is on an upswing, and we’re hungry to bring our great menu to more and more fans throughout the Chicago area and beyond.”

The restaurant is on the ground floor of a historic South Loop building being renovated for residential use and aims to be a neighborhood fixture and destination. It includes tables for nearly 100 to dine and a horseshoe-shaped bar that seats 25. The location will also offer delivery, pickup and the same great Giordano’s menu offered across the metro area, featuring the beloved stuffed pizza and other favorites.

“The South Loop offers the perfect location for a new Giordano’s. It’s a growing and vibrant area of Chicago that doesn’t have a Chicago-style pizza restaurant like ours,” said Koutsogiorgas.  “Whether in person or via social media, we’ve heard from Giordano’s fans who can’t wait for the restaurant to open. We’re confident that our pizza and other favorites will be popular right from the start.”

Giordano’s will execute a grand opening for the South Loop community and general public on Monday, January 13th at 6pm. The company has partnered with Bears Care, the charitable arm of the Chicago Bears, who will receive a donation of 25% of dine-in proceeds from the evening.  There will also be appearances from Staley, the Chicago Bears mascot, as well as James “Big Cat” Williams.

“We will continue to identify ways and places to grow our brand in the hometown of deep dish, and beyond,” said Koutsogiorgas. “Of course, we will be sensitive as to how quickly we grow our company’s reach beyond its home base. However, it is our intention to expand our business beyond Chicago in the entire Midwest region.”
