According to AZCentral.com, “A judge has imposed a $250 fine and dropped a criminal charge against an Apache Junction pizzeria with a statue of an 8-feet-tall rooster that pitted its owners against city officials.”
“City officials had police cite Hitching Post Pizza and Pub owner Mehmood Mohiuddin earlier this month after he placed the statue on the eatery’s roof without a permit. The city attorney said the giant bird was a public safety hazard: the fowl could have fallen on customers. Co-owner Muhammad “Zee” Ziaullah said he was happy with the outcome and that the media attention has drawn traffic to the business, as well as support from others who have also felt bullied by the city.”
