Franchiser SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza plans to open three company-owned locations in the Dallas area — its first company-owned restaurants outside its home market — between November 2014 and May 2015. Honored with numerous awards for its fresh artisan food and business concept, SPIN! ® will open its first Dallas area location in Southlake, followed by Richardson, and the Las Colinas development in Irving.

SPIN! Pizza also has three locations under construction in its home market of Missouri and Kansas, where it operates six company-owned locations, and franchises in Southern California, the San Francisco Bay Area, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.

SPIN! Pizza’s Gail Lozoff — one of four partners experienced in large multi-unit expansion, franchising, and operations — said that entering the Dallas market is part of a careful, measured expansion plan. “We believe that healthy companies have a combination of company-owned and franchise locations. We are growing very deliberately because it’s most important for us to preserve the integrity of our company and culture as we transport them to other markets.”

“Dallas appears to be a great match for our distinct, inviting, bustling atmosphere that attracts all ages, our artisan food with recipes developed in collaboration with a James Beard Award-winning chef, and our commitment to a quality guest experience.”

One of SPIN!’s four partners, Mike Kramer, lived in Dallas until recently returning to SPIN!’s

home market, Kansas City. Kramer says he looks forward to sharing SPIN! with his former neighbors. “As a former Dallas area resident, I’m very familiar with Dallas and eager to bring SPIN! to the area. SPIN!’s food is amazing. The atmosphere is hip and has energy. I feel like our unique approach to the pizza, salad and wine experience will be welcomed and embraced.”

SPIN! will introduce its hand-spun, stone-fired pizzas to the Dallas area in Southlake Town Square,1586 E. Southlake Blvd. The second area SPIN! Pizza will open in late 2014 or early 2015 at 348 Campbell Road in Richardson’s Canyon Creek Plaza. The Las Colinas SPIN! will be located in a free-standing building at 1030 W. John W. Carpenter Freeway near Southern Methodist University scheduled to open in early 2015.

Until now, SPIN! has turned to franchise partners, with successful track records operating multiple units, to grow the business in new strategically located markets. “We’ve sought culturally compatible experienced operators who share our core values for operating restaurants and our commitment to quality of product and experience,” Lozoff says. “Now, we have added company-owned stores to our expansion plans.”

Winner of a raft of awards, SPIN!’s been named one of the “Rest of the 101 Best Restaurants” in the nation by top foodie website TheDailyMeal.com, its Margherita Pizza was crowned one of the nation’s best dishes of the year by a trade magazine, and its architecture won Best of Show at the Mid America Design Awards. Ranked number one by Zagat among Kansas City area pizza restaurants, SPIN! has been awarded “best pizza” by numerous publications in its hometown, where it also was honored for the city’s best gluten-free menu.

SPIN!’s recipes are developed in collaboration with James Beard Award-winning Chef Michael Smith, who also was just named national Chef Innovator of the Year. The pizzeria is known for its exceptional, artisan food made from fresh ingredients without the gourmet price and its eclectic, affordable premium wines.

In addition to a diverse selection of hand-spun, stone-fired traditional thin-and-bubbly crust, rustic whole wheat, and gluten-free pizzas, SPIN! serves an array of appetizers, soups, salads, signature Panini and Italian deli sandwiches, and gelato ice creams.

SPIN!’s homemade soups and salad dressings as well as its pizza toppings and ingredients are prepared daily from fresh produce and meats. SPIN! takes the unique step of boosting flavors by roasting all toppings and ingredients in its stone hearth ovens each day, including mushrooms, caramelized onions, artichokes, and even capers, pecans, pineapple, pine nuts, and pancetta.

SPIN!’s pizza dough is made fresh every day using several types of flour including one specially imported from Italy, and its gluten free crust is renowned for its flavor and texture. SPIN! offers both traditional Pizza Rossa (red pizzas with crushed tomato sauce) and Pizza Bianca (white pizzas with roasted garlic olive oil glaze), and many hand-grated cheeses.

Known for a rotating roster of affordable premium wines, SPIN! also makes homemade white, red and blood orange sangrias and offers a selection of craft beers.

In addition to its wines and artisan menu, SPIN! is recognized for its pioneering hybrid service, which combines a twist on fast casual by pairing ordering in the restaurant’s lobby with a full-service experience at the table. The convenient but attentive service appeals to diners who want to control the speed of their meal without sacrificing service.

Founded in 2005 in Kansas City, Mo., this is the second national concept created by SPIN! partners Gail and Richard Lozoff, Edwin Brownell, and Michael Kramer.
