After decades of playing second fiddle to Pizza Hut, Domino's proclaimed in its fourth-quarter earnings report that it is now the Largest Pizza Chain in the World, when looking at global retail sales, according to a story in The Detroit Free Press.
The sales difference was not huge–$12.2 billion for Domino's and $12.03 for Pizza Hut. But it was just enough to claim the self-imposed title.
Domino's continues to lead the pack with digital innovation, helping to bolster its sales. Meanwhile, Pizza Hut has been losing its attraction with younger customers, according to analysts.
