Arizona pizza chain Fired Pie has breakfast on the brain – and on the menu – at their Fashion Square Mall location in Scottsdale.
The fast-casual pizza company has rolled out several 7” signature white-sauce breakfast pizzas and will also offer a build-your-own option. “We saw an opportunity in our Fashion Square location where there is a need for a breakfast option,” Fired Pie co-owner Doug Doyle told PMQ. “Breakfast pizzas are an easy meal for us to execute since we only had to add eggs. Full-service breakfast restaurants are doing extremely well right now, and we think we can carve out a piece of this segment by providing breakfast in a fast setting.”
Nutritionist Chelsy Amer cheered pizza lovers worldwide last year when she told The Daily Meal that a slice of pizza is a perfectly sensible choice for a healthy breakfast. “You may be surprised to find out that an average slice of pizza and a bowl of cereal with whole milk contain nearly the same amount of calories,” Amer said in the interview. “However, pizza packs a much larger protein punch, which will keep you full and boost satiety throughout the morning.”
The Fired Pie breakfast menu also delivers value, with pies priced at just $5.49. They include: The Ham, made with alfredo sauce, egg, ham, parmesan and cheddar cheeses; the Veggie, featuring olive oil, garlic, mozzarella, egg, mushrooms, onions, peppers, spinach, and tomato; the Whole Hog, topped with alfredo sauce, cheddar, egg, sausage, bacon, ham, and capicola; and the Western, made with alfredo sauce, cheddar, egg, ham, green peppers, and red onions.
If the idea takes off, it may spread to more Fired Pie stores, Doyle says. “We do have several other locations with a business clientele who we think this could work very well for,” he said.
