  • Mici brought on CEO/Partner Elliot Schiffer in 2017 and will continue expanding around Colorado, with plans for a national franchising program.

Mici Handcrafted Italian, a family-owned, fast-casual chain based out of Denver, Colorado, will open its sixth location in Colorado Springs, Colorado, at 11 a.m. on April 22. Mici’s newest store is located at the corner of N. Carefree and Powers, at 3707 Bloomington Road.

To celebrate the opening, Mici Handcrafted Italian will give out complimentary 10” Formaggio Pizzas from 11 a. m. to 3 p.m. for pick-up only, with a limit of one per person, while supplies last.

The menu features generations-old Italian recipes from sibling founders Jeff, Michael and Kim Miceli. Mici’s pastas, handcrafted pizzas, salads and gelato are available for dine-in, carryout, catering and delivery.

In 2017, Mici brought on Partner and CEO Elliot Schiffer. Under this new partnership, the company has already expanded to Lafayette and Parker, Colorado. In adding Colorado Springs, Mici will create jobs for 30 new team members.

With steadfast goals of company growth, the Mici team is focused on a national franchising program and is scouting real estate for their seventh and eighth company locations in Colorado.

“Mici is family-oriented and loves being part of tight-knit communities like Colorado Springs,” said Jeff Miceli, the chain’s founder and president. “Our combination of generations-old family recipes made with high-quality, clean ingredients and a modern-day, convenient style of service are what make Mici so special. The last two years of growth for the brand have been exciting and successful, and we’re looking forward to what is to come!”

The restaurant’s space has undergone construction to transform a Smashburger store into a modern and inviting space for Mici customers. The design, done in-house by co-founder and VP of Brand Strategy Kim Miceli, includes rustic wood-grain tabletops coupled with modern white chairs and lighting. The walls are adorned with large-scale, black-and-white vintage photographs of the Miceli family, reminding guests that they are enjoying authentic, Italian family recipes. The layout, which includes 46 indoor seats, allows Mici to offer fast-casual service as well as dedicated areas for pickup and delivery.

The menu includes Mici’s handcrafted, all-natural pizzas with toppings like hormone-free mozzarella and nitrate-free pepperoni. Must-tries are their signature pies like the DiGirolomo (named for the siblings’ great grandfather), topped with pepperoni, pepperoncini, gorgonzola and mozzarella, and The Vela (named for Miceli nieces Sofia and Francesca), featuring olive oil, family-recipe sausage, ricotta and mozzarella. Pizzas are available in 10” and 16” sizes, with make-your-own and locally sourced gluten-free crust options.

Pasta offerings include traditional Spaghetti and Meatball, featuring Miceli matriarch Rosalie’s Marinara and family-recipe meatballs; Tortellini alla Miceli, the dish that patriarch Jerry makes for the family on special occasions, with parmigiano-reggiano cream sauce, prosciutto di Parma, and green peas; and other family favorites like Creamy Pesto and hearty Cortonese, a Tuscan meat sauce over penne pasta.
