According to Metro.co.uk, “After establishing a connection with the space station – manned by the 10-person crew of the space shuttle Atlantis – Mr Obama was greeted by a welcome from Commander Chris Ferguson.”
“But instead of the usual formalities, the president turned on some legendary charm, saying: ‘Well, that’s funny – I was just dialing out for pizza. I didn’t expect to end up in space.’ The quip was met with polite smiles and some slight chuckles from the crew – although the time delay on the message made it seem like his joke had fallen flatter than a pancake under a steamroller. After his initial, and slightly unusual, introduction, Mr Obama went on to thank the crew for ‘continuing to inspire us’ with their ‘amazing feats’.”
