New York, NY (January 11, 2010) – Demonstrating their commitment to improving store operations through their comprehensive technology portfolio, Panasonic will showcase a full range of technology solutions for the retail market at this week’s National Retail Federation (NRF) EXPO. The featured products include point of sale (POS) terminals, communication systems and management software for integrated video/POS systems.

“For more than 30 years, Panasonic has designed POS solutions with the store owner, manager and operator in mind,” said Sam Miyakodani, Group Manager of Panasonic System Networks Company. “This new generation of products allows even more flexibility in applications and implementation with open platforms and the capability to be customized for specific business needs. It is our objective to help our customers transform how they operate as well as expand the possibilities in their business.”

At the NRF EXPO, Panasonic System Networks Company will highlight the following technology solutions:

POS Hardware Solutions

Panasonic’s Stingray Workstation (model JS-950), with its modular, open platform design, changed the ground rules for POS workstations. Stingrayruns virtually any operating system and software and can be configured with the selection of components and capabilities that best meet users’ specific needs. With a high-speed processor, Stingray is ideal for stand-alone applications and can also be integrated into a LAN network to run the most demanding back office operations. Stingray can be configured with a magnetic card reader and can also be easily integrated with security solutions such as fingerprint or biometric readers and Dallas key systems for operator ID verification.

Newest to the Panasonic line-up, the Lite-ray™ POS Workstation delivers reliable POS functionality at an affordable price. Based on the design of the Stingray workstation, Lite-ray is purpose-built with a fanless design featuring fewer moving parts. Its Intel® Atom™ Processor is power-optimized to deliver more robust performance per watt and the open architecture supports Microsoft Windows® including both standard and embedded platforms, along with Linux, which make it more ideal for retail market operations. Lite-ray is backed by a three-year warranty and additionally offers a full complement of options to further customize the POS solution, including a RAID data back-up and recovery system.

Communication Solutions

The Attune Communications System combines superior digital audio technology with advanced and user-friendly performance features for greatly improved clarity in a digital wireless communication system. Attune allows store personnel to communicate with one another from almost any location in the store using headsets as well as the ability to communicate with customers in a remote order-taking capability.  In addition, with the new Attune Telephone Interface, a programmed Attune headset can answer phone calls in the store, making it ideal for multi-tasking store managers. The Attune system features programming ease that makes initial set up and telephone troubleshooting fast and easy for up to 30 headsets per base station.  With a host of additional features and functionality, Attune is the perfect fit for many retail operations.

Panasonic telephone systems deliver proactive, flexible solutions designed for today’s fast-paced retail business landscape. Using a combination of advanced telephony products along with other IP-enabled applications, Panasonic provides richer, fully-capable business communication solutions

Remote Management Software

Panasonic’s Virtual Site Manager (VSM) is a multi-faceted business tool that provides users complete control of integrated video/POS systems with advanced remote management capabilities. The software enables live monitoring and recording of all POS transaction activities and is suitable for stand-alone or multi-site applications. VSM uses the Internet to provide a real-time connection to each store or location, for monitoring and control of mission-critical business operations which can help boost profitability and improve operations.
