The New Fulton Fish Market at Hunts Point will be hosting a Wholesale Farmers Market where restaurants and distributors can purchase locally grown fresh produce directly from farmers, announced Frank Minio, President of the New Fulton Fish Market Cooperative.
 
“We hope to get started Monday, March 26, with local plants and flowers in time for Easter, to be followed by seasonal fruits and vegetables” said Minio. “We would like to help restaurants satisfy growing customer demand for fresh locally grown produce along with the freshest and widest variety of seafood. “
 
The New Fulton Fish Market, operating from its new state of the are fully refrigerated facility, is hosting the Farmers Market as an enhanced service for current buyers and a means of attracting new buyers seeking the convenience of purchasing  the freshest seafood and produce at the same location.
 
Jack Hoeffner, Chairman of the Bronx Terminal Growers, said “We are excited about relocating our market to the New Fulton Fish Market to serve restaurant buyers. We will have a full line of locally grown fruits, vegetables, and flowering plants to complement the incredible variety of seafood at the market, including New York State fresh seafood.”
 
The Farmers Market relocation was facilitated by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, which has been studying the feasibility of re-establishing a Wholesale Farmers Market in New York City. The New Fulton Fish Market at Hunts Point, a 400,000 s/f  HAACP facility, is a development of the New York City Economic Development Corporation and is managed by the New Fulton Fish Market Cooperative.
 
The New Fulton Fish Market Seafood Market is open five days a week, Monday thru Friday, 1:00 a.m. -9:00 a.m. The Farmers Market will be open Monday thru Saturday from 1:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
