Pizza lovers with some big appetites took part in the fourth-annual Pizza Eating Contest yesterday at Rocco’s Pizzeria in Brooklyn. Defending champion Sal Carbone of Brooklyn retained his title.

He ate 15 slices and one bite in 12 minutes — beating his record from last year of exactly 15 slices. The runner-up ate his way through just over 12 slices. The event raised about $4,000 for the child-welfare organization MercyFirst, which runs group homes in the tri-state area.
