(Press Release), New York, September 17, 2013 — Slice Out Hunger is New York City's Biggest Pizza Party! This annual charity event sells $1 pizza slices donated from some of New York City's top pizzerias, many of which do not sell pizza by the slice such as Lombardi's, Keste, John's, Arturo's and Motorino. More than 35 New York pizzerias are expected to donate pies including Co., Di Fara, Joe's, Nicoletta, Sottocasa, Tosca and more.

Every dollar raised at Slice Out Hunger will be matched by Scott's Pizza Tours and other sponsors with 100 percent of proceeds going directly to the Food Bank for New York City.

Last year's Slice Out Hunger raised $12,800 for City Harvest which amounts to feeding more than 1,500 New Yorkers for a full month.

"New York City is home to the best pizza in the world and for many us, we can easily enjoy the foods we want at any time. But we should be aware that there is a food poverty crisis and a whopping 2.6 million New Yorkers are having difficulty affording food for themselves and their families," says Scott Wiener, founder/organizer of Slice Out Hunger.

"I'm so stoked to bring together my love for pizza and my buddies in the pizza community to create an event where everyone can get a taste of great New York pizza while supporting an important organization like the Food Bank For New York City," continues Scott.

Slice out Hunger started out as a small anniversary party for Scott's Pizza Tour company, when a number of New York City pizzerias offered Scott free pizzas to celebrate. Approximately fifty pies were delivered to a travel agency that hosted the party, but rather than give slices out for free, Scott decided to charge $1 per slice and donate all the money to a local hunger-fighting organization. Word spread and a line formed outside the tiny storefront. This year marks the fifth year Scott continues the tradition.
