College basketball is over but Dayton, Ohio's top pizzerias have borrowed a theme from the NCAA hoopsters' annual tournament with Dayton Pizza Madness, an online vote for the area's most popular pizzeria sponsored by the Dayton Business Journal.

Bizjournals.com reports the pizzeria playoff started the second round May 5 with some prominent Dayton pizzerias in action. Milano’s and Flying Pizza will be in group A matches, going up against Ron’s Pizza and Ha Ha Pizza.

Dayton Pizza Madness features four rounds of voting and runs for three weeks. Pizza places will go head-to-head in single-day matches with online voting determining the victors. Winners advance to the next round, while the losers do not. The Dayton Business Journal explains they're sponsoring the online voting competition because the Dayton region is fortunate to have dozens of superb local pizza shops. "We believe a grouping of the pizza places will help bring more awareness for each of them, regardless of how they finish the competition. It also gives each of them a chance to show off and test out their social marketing skills."
