A Texas pizzeria employee proved that being in the right place at the right time can save a life. Courtney Best, a Papa Murphy's pizza employee in Corpus Christi, Texas, decided to take her smoke break in the front of the building instead of her usual spot out back — and that small routine change allowed her to spot a kidnapper who only moments before had abducted a 7-year-old boy.

KRIS TV in Corpus Christi reports the 26-year-old Best saw a white Dodge Avenger pull up at the same time that she looked down at her phone and noticed an AMBER Alert describing the kidnapper's vehicle. She watched as a man emerged with a young boy. "The man was walking across the parking lot looking at me, because I was the only person out here, with the little boy and the little boy looked scared and I was like no, that's not him," she said. Uneasy about the situation, she followed the vehicle in her own car and called police. "What are the odds of me looking at my phone? And I usually don't even look at AMBER alerts, as bad as that sounds," she added. Due to Best's intuition, police caught up with the suspect and rescued Nicolas Gomez. After a routine hospital check-up, Gomez is doing fine.
