Big G’s Pizza, home of the “best mac & cheese pizza in the city,” is thrilled to announce the opening of its second location set to open in August of 2014.

The Wrigleyville late night staple will be taking their unique spin on affordable dining to the University Village neighborhood in Chicago’s south side. Located on historic Taylor Street, Big G’s newest location will occupy the space that formerly housed Sofia’s Pizza at 1132 W. Taylor Street.

Since opening in May, 2012, Big G’s has been serving New York style slices to Cubs fans, Metro concert goers, bar patrons, and Lakeview residents alike. With a focus on menu creativity, fresh ingredients, and lively atmosphere, Big G’s seeks to curate a memorable dining experience for all its diners, regardless if it’s 3 PM. or 3 A.M..

Big G’s will be bringing the entirety of its diverse menu to its newest location. The salivating slices that Lakeview residents have come to love- mac & cheese, Jack Daniels barbecue pulled pork, Philly cheese steak, lasagna marinara, and the carnivore’s delight known as “The Savage,” barbecue chicken, bacon and ranch- will be making themselves at home on Taylor Street. Along with pizza, Big G’s will feature their ever popular grilled chicken wings and garlic knots, and sweet desserts like smores ravioli. And with its proximity to the Loop, the pizzeria will carry on its late night delivery services and expand operations to downtown Chicago.

“Big G’s strives to be the best pizza by slice restaurant in Chicago by creating a unique ambience and superior product,” says Jeronimo Gaytan, CEO. “There is a reason why our customers say we have the best NY style pizza in the city.”Big G’s looks forward to joining the diverse and culturally rich areas of Little Italy and University Village and continuing its tradition as a community partner via philanthropic endeavors, student ambassador programs, and associations with local charities.

“Over the last two years we have collaborated with local elementary schools in the neighborhood, supported different causes such as the local women’s shelter and the Howard Brown Health Center, and donated pizzas to underprivileged students who are excelling in their education,” says COO Jaime Gamez. “We know it is just as important to support our local community as it is to be supported by our neighbors.”

.The pizzeria will be appearing this summer at the Taylor Street Festa Italiana beginning on August 14 and carry that momentum to its grand opening celebration on Monday, August 25, where every one of its four dozen varieties of pizza will be offered at $1 per slice. And Big G’s is excited to show their take on one America’s favorite dishes at the inaugural Mac & Cheese Fest, taking place on October 4 at the UIC Forum.
