Food-wise, pizza makes the best memories. Typically, it’s the pizzeria customers who sit around and reminisce about their most cherished experiences. But Dewey’s Pizza, with 25 locations across the Midwest and 25 years in business, has treasured memories of its own, and the chain has shared them in a new one-of-a-kind report unveiled recently on its website.

Titled “Unboxing of Memories,” the report, an online “memory book” of sorts, is a fine example of how even a large pizza company can forge and maintain a positive emotional connection with its customers in every market it serves. It’s also a fond tip of the hat to those communities that have embraced Dewey’s over two and a half decades.

The 20-page report, posted on Dewey’s website and downloadable as a PDF, compiles the brand’s achievements, memories and highlights over the past quarter of century. In one section, current and former team members reflect on their happy experiences with Dewey’s. The report also recalls retired pizzas (like the J. Wallington Wimpy and the Mad Hatter), store remodels, community events and fundraisers.

Each year, Dewey’s publishes a community-giving report featuring statistics and photos from their philanthropic branch, cleverly named DewMore. The 2023 Unboxing of Memories report also showcases a giving section, featuring event highlights and donation statistics. Dewey’s total charitable contributions since 2009 now exceed $1.8 million, with a focus on education and the arts.

Giveback Nights (GBNs) are the most popular fundraiser at Dewey’s, where stores partner with local organizations for a dine-to-donate experience followed by a sales-based donation. These GBNs help schools earn “dough” for their PTOs and strengthen Dewey’s community partnerships. In 2023, Dewey’s donated over $37,000 through GBN fundraisers, the company said. The company’s restaurants also regularly provide pizza donations for community events and gift cards for galas, trivia nights, etc.

A few additional highlights from the “Unboxing of Memories” report include 25th-anniversary celebrations held on a company-wide and store level. The report also shares stories from original crew members and guests, throwing it back to the year it all began—1998.
