Phoenix, Ariz, October 2009 — zpizza is proud to announce that local Phoenix couple, Mark Weeter and Julie Kossak, have been honored by Goodwill Industries of Central Arizona as its 2009 Employer of the Year. Through their restaurants, Mark and Julie have partnered with Goodwill for the last two years providing employment to several individuals trained through Central Arizona’s Goodwill training program.
Goodwill of Central Arizona, founded in 1947, is a private, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to serve people with disabilities or people who would otherwise face obstacles to entering the workforce. In 2008, nearly 23,000 people received services at Goodwill and more than 5,100 were placed in competitive employment. “Goodwill puts people to work” and zpizza has been honored to be a part of Goodwill’s mission and to be the beneficiary of three tremendous individuals who are wonderful employees.
Mark and Julie opened their first zpizza in Midtown Phoenix (Thomas/Central) in 2004 and have since opened two additional locations in the Downtown Phoenix (1st Ave/Monroe) and North Phoenix (Tatum/Thunderbird). Often referred to as the Baja Fresh or Pei Wei of the pizza industry, zpizza takes a unique approach to the crowded pizza segment, offering a large selection of gourmet, premium pizzas made with organic ingredients.
