According to a news report from www.thestar.com, “Yum Brands Inc., the owner of the Taco Bell and Pizza Hut chains, expects to have as many as 15,000 KFC restaurants in China.”

“The fried-chicken chain could eventually become to China what McDonald’s Corp. is to the U.S., Yum Brands chief executive David Novak said yesterday,” said the story. “We have a big opportunity to make a lot more money in China,” Novak told analysts at a conference in New York. Yum plans to open restaurants in 500 Chinese cities over the next decade and establish call centres so customers can phone in orders, Novak said.”
