McIlhenny Company Presents the 2007 TABASCOâ Brand Hottest Chef Contest™
 
          AVERY ISLAND, LA – Professional chefs are invited to make a splash with their best Mediterranean-inspired recipes for a chance to win a whopping $10,000 in the 2007 TABASCO® Brand Hottest Chef Contest™.
The contest, sponsored by McIlhenny Company, maker of world-famous TABASCOâbrand Pepper Sauce, will award one professional chef a $10,000 grand prize, an assortment of TABASCOâ brand merchandise, and recognition as one of the hottest professional chefs internationally. The contest is open to residents of the United States and Canada, and also includes a culinary student category, awarding $2,500 in cash and merchandise to the winning chef-in-training.
Contest entries must incorporate fresh, easily sourced ingredients in original recipes inspired by Spain, Greece, Morocco, Italy or any of the cultures along the Mediterranean coast. Qualified entries can feature any part of the menu — from breakfast to dessert — and must include at least one of the following five flavors of the TABASCOâFamily of Flavors: Original TABASCO® Brand Pepper Sauce, TABASCO® brand Green Jalapeño Pepper Sauce, TABASCO® Brand Garlic Pepper Sauce, TABASCO® Brand Chipotle Pepper Sauce, or TABASCO® Brand Habanero Sauce.
“We’re challenging professionals and chefs to be inspired by the bold and flavorful trend as well as the Mediterranean cuisine trend that is so popular in today’s menus around the world.           In addition to cash and prizes, the winners’ recipes will be featured on www.TABASCOfoodservice.com and in all promotional efforts following the contest judging, which is scheduled to take place on or before September 5, 2007. A judging panel comprised of President and CEO, Paul C. P. McIlhenny and top chefs in New Orleans, Louisiana will select the professional and student winners. 
          This year marks the 139th anniversary of TABASCOâ brand Pepper Sauce, which is now labeled in 21 languages and sold in 160 countries and territories around the world.
